PM Rop Says It's Time to Compromise on Institutional Reform
Athens, 16 April - "The time has come to look for compromises" on the EU institutional reform, Prime Minister Anton Rop said after Wednesday's informal meeting between the leaders of the incumbent and future member states and President of the Convention on the Future of Europe Valery Giscard d'Estaing. According to Rop, it will not be easy to settle differences, but the debate on the delicate issue of EU presidency has shown that a solution is being sought to retain the rotating system and simultaneously introduce an office of the president of the Council of the EU.
