Sailors of Abandoned Ship Begin Hunger Strike
Izola, 29 April - A nine-member crew of a ship "Sines", abandoned in the Slovenian sea by its Italian owner Michele Assante in the middle of February, began a hunger strike on Monday, STA was told by the inspector of the strongest naval union, the International Transport Federation (ITF), Branko Krznaric. Six Ukrainians and three Romanians are exhausted and are starting to act out. They insist that they would not go home without the money the ship owner owes them, namely around US$ 110,000, Krznaric said.
