EU's Health Council Reaches Compromise on Generic Drugs
Ljubljana, 2 June - The EU's ministers for health, who were joined by health ministers from acceding countries, reached a compromise on Monday on the protection of original drugs at the session of the EU's Council for Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Protection. As Slovenian Health Minister Dusan Keber told STA, the council adopted a compromise decision, giving producers of original drugs an eight-year period of protection in which it will be forbidden to produce generic versions of original drugs.
