Ljubljana, 15 June - The infectious fire blight plant disease that first appeared NW of Ljubljana almost three weeks ago is now rapidly spreading across the country, with increasing damage to the fruit production approaching the level of a natural disaster. Ahead of imminent decision of the Competition Protection Office, two Slovenian rival brewers, Pivovarna Union and Pivovarna Lasko, renewed their dispute. Union owner Interbrew called for greater transparency of the process, Union required insight into all files by the Office and Lasko claimed it has no intention of selling the Union trademark if the merger gets a green light. Meanwhile, joint Slovenian-Croatian commission on the implementation of the NEK agreement established that its stipulations are being carried out entirely.
