Vecer Comments on Recurring Drought Troubling Slovenia's Granary
Maribor, 16 June - Drought which has hit Slovenia's northeastern region of Prekmurje as well as other parts of Slovenia, Europe and the world for the sixth time in the past decade has shown that the green-house-gas effect can soon become a big problem. The lack of rainfall has deprived Prekmurje of up to 80 percent of its average annual precipitation. Catchments will have to be set up in the region if crops are still to be harvested in Slovenia's granary, Vecer writes on Monday.
