Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 14 to 20 June
Ljubljana, 21 June - Slovenian Prime Minister Anton Rop had his hands full with EU-related issued during the past week, as he visited Germany on Wednesday and attended the EU Summit in Thessalonike on Friday. Rop also found himself having to explain a statement he did not actually make during his visit to Berlin, after a journalist misinterpreted his address, causing the Croatian Foreign Ministry to protest. Explaining that he did not condition Croatia's bid to join the EU with the resolution of the succession to the former Yugoslavia, Rop underscored Slovenia's stellar support for Croatian integration into the Union. Meanwhile, on the domestic scene Slovenian lawmakers adopted an act on war graves that attempts to heal the wounds dating back to the period during and right after the Second World War.
