Weekly Review of Slovenian Business & Economy from 14 to 20 June

Ljubljana, 22 June - The biggest news last week came from the Competition Protection Office (CPO), which said it would not issue a decision on the takeover of the Pivovarna Union brewer by its Slovenian rival Pivovarna Lasko until further notice. The move comes after the legal representative of Belgium's Interbrew, which is also bidding for Union, addressed a demand to Economics Minister Tea Petrin to remove CPO Director Andrej Plahutnik from the procedure because of suspected bias. Meanwhile, the trade union of shop workers continued to collect signatures in support of keeping shops closed on Sunday, although the union last week reached an agreement with employers for higher allowance for Sunday work. And in parliament, the 2003 supplementary budget got a green light.
