Drnovsek for TVS: EU Constitutional Draft Realistic; Criticism of Rupel Too Harsh
Ljubljana, 22 June - The current proposal of the draft Constitutional Treaty as prepared by the European Convention is a fairly realistic compromise, President Janez Drnovsek told TV Slovenia on Sunday evening, adding that the intergovernmental conference will hardly be able to make any substantial changes. As for the criticism about the way in which the Slovenian foreign policy is being led, particularly when deciding between the U.S. and the EU, Drnovsek said that "the criticism was sometimes too harsh". He gave a similar reply when asked whether he agrees that Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel should be replaced.
