Union Surprised at Anti-Trust Office Decision

Ljubljana, 15 July - Pivovarna Union, a target of takeover rivalry between the country's leading brewer Pivovarna Lasko and Belgium's Interbrew, expressed surprise on Tuesday at the ruling of the Competition Protection Office, which allowed Lasko to merge with Union under certain conditions. According to Union, the office's compromise verdict does nothing to clear up the situation, leaving Union in uncertainty.
