Ljubljana, 20 July - Schedule of events in the week from 21 to 27 July:

MONDAY, 21 July

LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene for an extraordinary session.

LJUBLJANA - At a press conference, head of the Competition Protection Office Andrej Plahutnik is to explain reasons for office's ruling on the consolidation between brewers Pivovarna Lasko and Pivovarna Union.

BRUSSELS - In his role as an observer, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to attend the regular monthly session of the EU foreign ministers. The last session before the summer holidays is to focus on Middle East and Iraq.

TUESDAY, 22 July

LJUBLJANA/MARIBOR/KOPER - U.K. Transport Minister David Jamieson is to start his three-day official visit to Slovenia. He is scheduled to meet his Slovenian counterpart Jakob Presecnik, mayors of all three cities and members of the parliamentary committe for infrastructure and environment.

BRUSSELS - Agriculture Minister Franci But, in his role as an observer, is to attend the regular monthly meeting of the EU agriculture ministers. The agenda is to include genetically modified organisms and WTO negotiations.

KOPER - Port of Koper is to present a study on ideas of rail connection between Koper and Italy's Trieste, as well as on renovation of Koper-Divaca rail track.

KOPER - Logistics company Intereuropa is to hold a press conference to present its modern IT system World Ship.

MARIBOR - Association of people affected by asbestus poisoning is to hold a press conference after a session of its leadership.

WEDNESDAY, 23 July

BRUSSELS - Agriculture Minister Franci But and European Commissioner for Agriculture Franz Fischler are to sign an agreement on financing of SAPARD, the pre-accession agriculture aid, for 2003.

LJUBLJANA - Economic and social council is to convene for a session and discuss national programme of work safety and work health.

THURSDAY, 24 July

LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene at its regular weekly session.

LJUBLJANA/BRDO PRI KRANJU - Upon invitation of Prime Minister Anton Rop Ireland's PM Bertie Ahern is to pay a visit to Slovenia. Besides holding discussions with his host, Ahern is to meet with President Janez Drnovsek as well.

FRIDAY, 25 July

LJUBLJANA - Russia's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin is to pay an official visit to Slovenia, during which is to meet with Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel as well.

BAYREUTH - President Janez Drnovsek is to attend the opening of the Richard Wagner festival in Bayreuth upon invitation of Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber.

SATURDAY, 26 July

No major events are announced.

SUNDAY, 27 July

VRSIC - A traditional rememberance ceremony in the memory Russian prisoners of WWI, who died in an 1916 avalanche while constructing a mountain pass is to take place in northwestern Slovenia.
