Slovenian Athlete Runs to Silver at U-23 Championship

Bydgoszcz, 20 July - Coming only two hundredths of seconds short of third place in Saturday's 100-metre race, gave Maja Nose the drive to make it to the top three on Sunday. The boost of the anger helped her reach a personal best with 23.09 and a silver medal in 200 metres at the European Under-23 Championship in Poland's Bydgoszcz.

Nose came second after Ukraine's Marina Maydanova (22.82), while her result also qualified her for the World Championship in Paris in August. Despite a recent injury, Nose showed her best and came only some 0.30 second short of the Slovenian record.

Meanwhile, other five Slovenian athletes at the Championship also made to to the finals. Marina Tomic came eighth in the 100-metre hurdles women's finals, after being fourth in the semi-finals.

Competing on the last day of the Championship, Peter Zupanc came eighth in javelin throwing, Jan Zumer was 11th in long jump and Snezana Vukmirovic finished 12th in triple jump. Damjan Sitar placed 12th in decathlon on Friday.
