Direct Payments to Help Pig Breeders; Imported Peaches to Be Cheaper
Ljubljana, 24 July - At its regular weekly session on Thursday, the government approved direct payments for pigs, slaughtered between 1 March and 30 June, and abolished import duties for peaches and nectarines. These two types of fruit, also grown in Slovenia, were hardest hit by the drought, and import duty would only increase their costs for companies and consumers, explained State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Darko Simoncic.
