BirdLife Calls on Slovenia to Fulfil EU Bird Directive
Brussels, 25 July - International environmental organisation BirdLife has called upon three future EU members, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, to speed up the implementation of the EU directive on birds and designate special protection areas as soon as possible. The deadline for registering these areas where rare birds abide is 1 May 2004, the date of these countries joining the EU, so there is not much time left, said BirdLife.
