BRDO PRI KRANJU - The New York-based EastWest Institute (EWI) is to stage an international conference entitled "Creating community of trust and understanding: multilateral institutions and international security." Slovenia will be represented at the conference by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, who is also scheduled to open the conference together with EWI president John Mroz. The conference under the patronship of President Janez Drnovsek is expected to host such participants as Russian Deputy PM Alexei Kudrin, former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, who is a special envoy of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and of the UN General Assembly, OSCE Secretary General Jan Kubis, and Bulgarian Deputy FM Lubomir Ivanov.
