Prostitution No Longer a Criminal Offence
Ljubljana, 31 July - Changes to the Public Order Act that decriminalise prostitution are in effect as of Thursday. Prostitution will no longer be regarded as an offence, while prostitutes will not be treated as victims, but as entrepreneurs. The amendment has aroused a considerable controversy and a group of citizens attempted to challenge it with a referendum, but only managed to collect 8,000 out of the necessary 40,000 signatures.
