Vecer on Gov't Aid to Cattle Breeders

Maribor, 13 August - Farmers' threats that if the state does not help, because of drought, they would simply slaughter cattle and sell the meat illegally or bury it, have finally been heard in the second half of the summer. While the state secretary for agriculture only three weeks ago claimed that low purchase prices of cattle at this time of year are quite common and only temporary, the Agriculture Ministry now changed its mind, writes Wednesday's daily Vecer.
