Three Firemen Die in Accident

Šmarje pri Jelšah, 13 August - Three firemen died on Wednesday while cleaning a well at Smarje pri Jelsah, eastern Slovenia. As STA was told by Celje police, the three were cleaning a well about 15 metres deep with a water pump. After finishing work, they ascended into the well to pick up the water pump, but as the pump had emitted carbon dioxide all three died of asphyxiation on the spot. Police said more information about the accident would be known on Thursday.
