Drought Dominates Opening of Agriculture Fair

Gornja Radgona, 23 August - Opening the 41st International Agriculture and Food Fair on Saturday, Prime Minister Anton Rop and Agriculture Minister Franci But promised farmers to help alleviate the consequences of drought that has hit farmers across the country. Rop said that the government is already making the necessary preparations to pay a part of next year's farm subsidies in October, and to start paying out drought damage compensations this year instead of 2004.
