Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 16 to 22 August
Ljubljana, 23 August - Slovenian-Croatian relations have managed to heat up the already scorching summer, only that Croatia's disputed plan to set up an exclusive economic zone in the Adriatic was supplemented this week by the release of a so far confidential report on the debt of the defunct Slovenian bank Ljubljanska banka to Croatian savers. The report states that Croatia, having adopted monetary legislation of the former Yugoslavia upon independence, is responsible for guaranteeing its citizens' foreign exchange deposits, not the bank. Seizing the opportunity to make themselves heard, political parties from both countries have jumped on the bandwagon, souring bilateral relations even further.
