Ljubljana, 1 September - Schedule of events in the week from 1 to 7 September:

MONDAY, 1 September

LJUBLJANA - Spanish Foreign Minister Ana Palacio is paying an official visit to Slovenia. She is scheduled to meet FM Dimitrij Rupel, President Janez Drnovsek and PM Anton Rop.

LJUBLJANA - European veterinary inspection from Dublin is to come to Slovenia to investigate meat and meat products processing facilities. Staying until 5 September, the inspectors are likely to pay a visit to a dairy as well.

PRAGUE - State Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Samuel Zbogar is to attend a meeting of government representatives of small current and future EU members, which are to formulate common views ahead of the inter-governmental conference in Rome.

LJUBLJANA - The Social Democrats (SDS) leader Janez Jansa is to reveal his views on relations with Croatia to a press conference.

LJUBLJANA - A four-day international NATO medical conference is to kick off.

LJUBLJANA - Interior Minister Rado Bohinc is to present plans and tasks of his ministry in light of the changes to the Police Act.

LJUBLJANA - Deputy group of the National Party is to present its views on the health system reform.

TUESDAY, 2 September

LJUBLJANA - Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament Halldor Blondale is to pay a visit to Slovenia and meet his host, Speaker of the Parliament Borut Pahor.

LJUBLJANA - Upon invitation by FM Dimitrij Rupel, president of the regional government of Italy's Friuli Venezia Giulia Riccardo Illy is to pay a visit to Slovenia.

LJUBLJANA - Head of Austrian province of Salzburg Franz Schausberger is to visit Slovenia upon invitation of FM Dimitrij Rupel.

LJUBLJANA - Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek is to hold a press conference to reply to the open letter of the commission for justice and peace at the Slovenian Bishops' Conference.

GORIZIA - A four-day conference for teachers in Slovenian-language schools and bilingual schools in Italy, is to start.

WEDNESDAY, 3 September

VIENNA - State Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Samuel Zbogar is to participate at a conference for implementation of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

LJUBLJANA - Session of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee.

LJUBLJANA - Collegium of the speaker of the parliament is to discuss changes to organisation of the parliament upon the EU accession.

LJUBLJANA - New ambassadors to Slovenia from Argentina and Israel are to hand in their credentials to President Janez Drnovsek.

LJUBLJANA - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to receive for a farewell meeting Sweden's Ambassador to Slovenia John-Christer Ahlander.

LJUBLJANA - The opening of the 12th European Union of School and University Health and Medicine Congress.

MARIBOR - A ceremony upon 144th anniversary of Bishop Anton Martin Slomsek's arrival to Maribor is to take place.

THURSDAY, 4 September

VITERBE - Information Society Minister Pavel Gantar is to take part at an informal session for telecommunication ministers of the EU member states and accession countries.

LJUBLJANA - Centre for international relations at the Ljubljana Faculty fo Social Sciences is to hold a press conference upon publishing of the UNCTAD World Investment Report 2003.

PORTOROZ - A three-day conference on borders in SE Europe is to open its doors.

LJUBLJANA - Press conference ahead of the 10th international advertising festival Golden Drum.

FRIDAY, 5 September

RIVA DEL GARDA - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to participate in a two-day traditional half-yearly informal session of EU foreign ministers, where accession countries hold the status of observers. The meeting is to focus on the October intergovernmental conference.

MILAN - At a two-day informal session of EU and accession countries' health ministers, Health Minister Dusan Keber and his counterparts are to discuss establishment of the European centre for prevention of spreading of infectious disease.

LJUBLJANA - Parliamentary committee for economy is to discuss allocation of state aid to companies.

LJUBLJANA - Ministry of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy is to present the national energy programme.

LJUBLJANA - Ambassadors of New Zealand and Sri lanka are to hand in their credentials to President Janez Drnovsek, while Sweden's ambassador is to take leave.

SATURDAY, 6 September

KAMNIK - The municipality of Kamnik is to be conferred an honorary European flag for its efforts in spreading the European idea and international co-operation. Europe Minister Janez Potocnik is to hold the opening address.

KAMNIK - Bavarian-Slovenian library is to be officially opened.
