Slovenian voters decided on new local administration on the last Sunday in May, according to which Slovenia should have 300 new small municipalities instead of the present 62. More than half of those who attended the referendum, voted against the new municipalities, according to unofficial data. Commentators devoted insinuating headlines: "The Referendum Flop", "Slap in the Face of Slovenian Politics" (Delo), "Against Dilettantes" (Večer), "A Divided Parliament, Divided Voters" (Dnevnik), "Reprimand before Expulsion" (Republika). The new local administration in Slovenia is shifting to the future, judging from first reactions of political parties and parliamentary commissions.
