MONDAY, 15 September

LJUBLJANA - A two-day consultation of Slovenian diplomats on the subject of Slovenia's impending EU membership and its consequences for their work is to begin in Ljubljana. The diplomats are to be addressed by President Janez Drnovsek.

QUEBEC CITY - Chairman of Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (GZS) Jozko Cuk is to take part in the World Congress of the Chambers of Commerce and sessions of the bodies of the International Trade Organisation. As part of the regional pre-congress meeting of Central European Chambers of Commerce, Cuk is to present the role of the GZS during Slovenia's EU accession negotiations.

BELGRADE - Slovenian National Party (SNS) is to discuss the progress of the international conference on the succession of the Adriatic at a press conference.

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the European affairs committe in the Irish Parliament is to pay an official visit.

LJUBLJANA - A Chinese-Slovenian business conference is to take place at the Chamber of Commerce.

BLED - The Security Competence Technology Centre (SETCCE) is organising a second NATO workshop entitled Advanced security technologies in networking - ASNT/2003, under the auspices of the NATO and European Commission science programme Advanced security.

LJUBLJANA - Former President Milan Kucan is to meet with with the chairman of the National Council Janez Susnik for a courtesy visit.

LJUBLJANA - Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs is to present the ministry's actions and findings of the extraordinary expert and financial control over the work of the programmes Stigma and Aids, run by NGO Aids Foundation Robert.

SMARTNO OB PAKI - Project "Solar Partnership", a co-operation between Austrian environment organisation Klimabuendnis Steiermark, Slovenia's eco-NGO E-Forum and the Institute for Ecological Research ERICo. As part of the partnership, a solar system for sanitary water heating is to be constructed in an elementary school in Smartno ob Paki.

CELJE - The association of ecological movements in Slovenia is organising a panel on the use of geo-thermal energy for heating and cooling of homes and offices in Slovenia.

LJUBLJANA - The 2nd annual assembly of the Slovenian energy cluster is to be organised by energy company Energetika Ljubljana.

TUESDAY, 16 September

SMARJESKE TOPLICE - An expert meeting between Slovenia and Croatia is to take place to discuss Croatia's intention of declaring an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Adriatic. The meeting is to be at the level of head of legal services of both foreign ministries.

TEL AVIV - Agriculture Minister Franci But is to pay an official visit to Israel upon invitation of his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz.

LJUBLJANA - The 13th European Conference of Ministers responsible for Regional Planning (CEMAT) is to be launched.

LJUBLJANA - A two-day international conference of transport experts is to begin. Experts from Austria, Germany, Denmark, UK and Slovenia are to tackle the development of European railways.

LJUBLJANA - Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs is to hold a press conference to reveal its public works programme and local employment programmes.

LJUBLJANA - The 8th Bourse Focus is to begin. The conference is to discuss new tax legislation, bill on takeovers and irregularities on the financial market.

KOPER - A meeting of mayors of 25 municipalities from Central and SW Slovenia is to discuss the IN-PRIME programme for promotion of the Primorsko region.

WEDNESDAY, 17 September

LJUBLJANA - Upon invitation of Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, New Zealand's FM Phil Goff is to pay a visit to Slovenia.

LJUBLJANA - Upon invitation by Defence Ministry, State Secretary of the Swedish Defence Ministry Jonas Hjelm is to visit Slovenia.

MARIBOR - On the sidelines of the 13th CERMAT conference, the Environment Ministry is to stage an international conference on the consequences of the EU enlargement.

LJUBLJANA - Parliamentary committees for culture, education, youth, science and sport, foreign affairs, domestic affairs are to meet for individual sessions. Meanwhile, the commission for control over teh work of security and intelligence services is to convene behind closed doors.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council commission for international relations and European affairs is to discuss Slovenia's relations with Croatia.

LJUBLJANA - Economic and social council is to discuss the bill on the employment of the disabled, the bill on work and social courts and the third report on the implementation of the European social bill.

LJUBLJANA - The association of Slovenian newspapers and magazines in the Chamber of Commerce is to confer an award for creativity in print ads, Golden Mirror Summer 2003.

BOHINJSKA BISTRICA - Press conference at the visit of Montenegrin tourism workers, organised by the International Tourism Institute.

THURSDAY, 18 September

HELSINKI - PM Anton Rop is to begin a two-day visit to Finland.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene for a regular weekly session.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission investigating the case of beaten journalist Miro Petek is to convene to interrogate Vlado Klun and discuss the proposed changed to the act on parliamentary investigation.

LJUBLJANA - Presentation of the results of the Mirror to the Government 2000-2002 report is to take place. Participating at the presentation will be head of the European Commission delegation to Slovenia Erwan Fouere, Environment Minister Janez Kopac, and head of the Environment Agency Andreja Cercek-Hocevar.

GORNJA RADGONA - The address of Defence Minister Anton Grizold is to launch the 1st international defence fair, entitled "Modern Military".

RODICA PRI DOMZALAH - The Slovenian and Austrian society of agrarian economists are to stage an international expert conference, entitled "EU-Enlargement - Chances and Risks for the Rural Area".

PORTOROZ - A two-day international conference of business clubs and associations of Central and SE Europe is to take place.

LJUBLJANA - The Central Bank is present Slovenia's balance of payments at its regular quarterly press conference.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian Tourism Board is to hold a press conference to present its renovated tourism Internet portal.

LJUBLJANA - The business magazine Gospodarski vestnik is to confer the business award "Gazelle of Central Slovenia".

LJUBLJANA - The Peace Institute is to organise a panel on the topic of "Media and Homosexuality".

FRIDAY, 19 September

LJUBLJANA - Head of the delegation of the European Commission in Slovenia Erwan fouere and Europe Minister Janez Potocnik are to sign four memoranda in a total value of EUR 44.9m.

LJUBLJANA - Session of the Parliamentary European Affairs Commission.

GORNJA RADGONA - As part of the 1st international defence fair, two discussions are to tackle peace-keeping operations and the image of the armed forces in the public.

SATURDAY, 20 September

TAORMINA - EU agriculture ministers are to convene for an informal meeting with their accession countries counterparts participating as observers, among them Slovenia's Franci But.

BELGRADE - The first international conference on the succession of the Adriatic sea within the borders of former Yugoslavia is to begin, organised by Slovenian National Party (SNS).

NOVA GORICA - Upon international day of deaf the Slovenian association of the deaf and hard of hearing is to stage a ceremony, at which Labour Minister Vlado Dimovski is to address the participants.

GORNJA RADGONA - As part of the 1st international defence fair, two panel discussions on military training, professionalization and the competitiveness of the Slovenian defence industry are to take place.

SUNDAY, 21 September

LJUBLJANA - Referendum on the Sunday opening hours of the shops.

LJUBLJANA - Director general of the Swedish Rescue Services Agency Christina Salomonson is to pay a visit to Slovenia, where she is to discuss further co-operation between the countries in protection against natural and other disasters.
