GORNJA RADGONA - A first Slovenian fair on defence is to be opened by Defence Minister Anton Grizold at 10 AM. The professionalization of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the recent abolishment of mandatory military service will be among the central topics of the four-day show.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission investigating the background of a brutal attack on Vecer reporter Miro Petek is to hear Vlado Kun, who has been labelled by some media the chief of the criminal underground in the region of Korosko.

LJUBLJANA - Results of the Mirror to the Government 2000-2002 report are to be presented at 4 PM.

DOMZALE - An international conference on pros and cons of the country's EU membership for Slovenia's rural areas is to take place.

LJUBLJANA - The upcoming referendum on shop opening hours is to be the topic of several press conferences (National Election Commission; the GZS association of trade; shop workers' trade union; the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS)).

LJUBLJANA - The 42nd annual world congress of the European Association for Pediatric Endocrinology is to begin. 1,400 experts are to attend.

LJUBLJANA - UNICEF Slovenija is to hold a press conference on trafficking with children.

PORTOROZ - A two-day international conference of business clubs and associations of Central and SE Europe is to begin.
