MONDAY, 22 September

BRUSSELS - Slovenian officials are to attend a three-day preparatory meeting ahead of a ministerial on sustainable development and fisheries in the Mediterranean. The meeting is also to touch on Croatia's plan to establish an EEZ in the Adriatic.

LJUBLJANA - The 21st European conference on international aspects of police work in post-war situations is to begin.

BRUSSELS - State secretaries of the Slovenian economics and education ministries are to take part, as observers, in a meeting of the EU's ministerial competition council.

NEW YORK - Slovenian FM Dimitrij Rupel is to attend a special session of the UN General Assembly on HIV/AIDS.

MARIBOR - Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek is to visit the city of Maribor, and speak to the press about some topical issues.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's Statistics Office (SURS) is to hold a monthly press conference.

TUESDAY, 23 September

NEW YORK - President Janez Drnovsek and FM Dimitrij Rupel are to attend the general debate of the UN General Assembly's 58th session.

BRUSSELS - Slovenia is to meet with European Commission officials for the last preparatory meeting before the Commission releases a progress report on ten EU acceding countries in November.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene for what is termed a budgetary session.

LJUBLJANA - Telekom Slovenije is to hold a press conference about its half-yearly results.

KOPER - A three-day gathering of researchers - organised by several educational and research institutions - is to discuss the role Slovenia is to have after 2004 as a bridge between the EU and SE Europe.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZZZS) is to present its Stance on the planed health reform.

LJUBLJANA - Neoliberalism, Europe, terrorism, human rights and other topical issues of the 21st century are to be in the focus of a fifth international conference of the International Association of Political Sciences Students (IAPSS).

KOPER - The port of Koper is to be visited by the French minesweeper Pluton with 27 members of the crew, as part of a co-operation programme between the Slovenian and French ministries of defence.

CATEZ - The 11th international conference on revision and control of informational systems is to begin (through 25 Sep.).

CELJE - The opening of a week-long international conference of the International Military Apostolate (AMI).

WEDNESDAY, 24 September

LJUBLJANA - Director of the European Bureau of the U.S. National Scientific Foundation (NFS) David Schindel is to visit Slovenia, and present the NFS programme.

LJUBLJANA - The 34th Slovenian sports show is to kick off, called SPORTEXPO 2003.

IZOLA - Izola 2003 - the 2nd international nautical show is to begin.

LJUBLJANA - Head of Nuba Survival, a London-based organisation for the rights of the African people Nuba, Suleiman Rahhal, is to address an international conference of students of political sciences.

THURSDAY, 25 September

MARIBOR - The Association of Managers is to hold a press conference upon its autumn meeting, at which the Manager of the Year Award is to be conferred.

BLED - A two-day panel on how to finance small businesses is to begin.

PORTOROZ - An EU Visa Symposium is to take place, organised by the interior and foreign ministries.

PORTOROZ - The 10th Days of Slovenian Administration are to begin.

LJUBLJANA - Weekly government session.

FRIDAY, 26 September

LJUBLJANA - A panel on how the planned tax changes are to affect the economy is to be attended by the economics and finance ministers, Tea Petrin Dusan Mramor.

PORTOROZ - A two-day international conference on public relations, called Portoroz 2003, is to begin.
