Review of Events in Slovenia From May 28, to June 3
Ljubljana, 4 June - Slovenian government remains unchanged for now, in spite of the fact that three ministerial positions were at stake in the past few days. Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek requested the dismissal of Jožica Puhar, Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, but the Parliament refused his request. With a large majority, deputies refused also a proposal on interpellation of Mitja Gaspari, Minister of Finance. Minister of Interior, Ivo Bizjak, who offered his resignation by himself and was approved by the Prime Minister, refuses to give an official written statement on his resignation, because he is convinced that an oral statement of resignation is sufficient. Parliamentary Commission for Legal Proceedings is now discussing procedural rules in the case of ministerial resignation.
