Ljubljana/Maribor, 26 September - The recent announcement that footwear maker Alpina would close down two facilities and move production where labour is cheaper has been labelled by the press as capitalism finally arriving in Slovenia. Although the Labour Ministry has said it would try to find a solution to preserve jobs (227 are to be lost), the papers are sceptical, and Delo points out that even those who will keep their jobs will not feel secure again.
