Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 20 to 26 September

Ljubljana, 27 September - Although two of Slovenia's top officials, President Janez Drnovsek and FM DImitrij Rupel, were attending the 58th session of the UN General Assembly this week, foreign policy issues were not put on hold. On the contrary, the disagreement with Croatia over the latter's proclamation of an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Adriatic, which has been souring bilateral relations for months, took a turn for the better for Slovenia, as Europe sent a clear signal that it would not support unilateral moves. Slovenia now awaits Croatia's next move.
