Poorly Attended Conference Discusses Disinterest in Classical Music

Ljubljana, 2 October - A nearly empty venue welcomed five musical researchers from Slovenia, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany who gathered in Ljubljana's arts centre Cankarjev dom on Thursday to find out what the place contemporary music occupies in today's globalised world. "Serious music belongs to one the rather alienated 20th-century cultural phenomena," noted Primoz Kuret, chair of the conference.
