jubljana, June 9 (STA) - World Health Organization (WHO) and European Health Region member states in their health policy and planning documents speak in favour of changes and new directions in research processes. Also Slovenia joins this policy with its Health Care Programme until 2000 and with a research programme "Health" which has been presented on Thursday in Ljubljana.***

At the Thursday's presentation, also some health facts have been made known. The lifetime of men in Slovenia has recently prolonged by 3.4 years and of women by 6.6 years. Thus men live approximately just over 69 years, while women just over 77 years. Most widely spread cause of death for both sexes in the life span from 20 through 64 is cancer. Men most frequently die of lung cancer and women of breast cancer. The second most common cause of death is failure of circulatory systems, following are injuries and failures of digestive organs.
