European observers arrived in Ljubljana
Ljubljana, 18 July - Yesterday, a group of European observers arrived in Ljubljana and is here to help in solving the disputes between Slovenia and the Yugoslav army. The leadership of the mission is stationed in Zagreb but when all organizational and technical problems are solved, its regional center for Slovenia will also start operating in Slovenia. The Slovene side is expecting that 30 to 40 foreign observers will arrive in the Slovenian Republic. The fundamental purpose of their mission is to observe events, determine facts and inform their center at Haag and the seat of CESC, while strictly following the provisions of the Brioni Declaration and the Memorandum on monitoring mission. They particularly emphasize that the observers have no authorization for mediation between the two opposing sides but only to determine how the two sides are adhering to the agreements. The delegation yesterday visited the border crossings of Šentilj, Ljubelj and Vič by Dravograd, while today one group will visit the Cerklje airport and the other, Slovenska Bistrica.
