Kučan: Resolution of Yugoslav Presidency very positive for Slovenia
Ljubljana, 19 July - The resolutions passed last night by the Yugoslav Presidency on the pullback of all Yugoslav army troops from Slovenia are very positive, surprising in a way, and encouraging, as well as representing a far-reaching decision. This was stated at a press conference today by President of the Slovene Presidency Milan Kučan. As President Kučan stated, the resolution is surprising, above all, because it was proposed not only by the Slovene representative in the Yugoslav Presidency, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, but also at the same time, by the representative of the Yugoslav army, General Veljko Kadijevič, giving rise to the thought that the decision was reached within the army to effect a peaceful, honourable and temperate withdrawal from Slovenia, and indicating also, on the other hand, that the decision for military intervention was not taken by the army of its own accord.
