Kučan and italian politics about events in Slovenia and Yugoslavia
Ljubljana, 31 July - The president of the Slovene Presidency, Mr. Milan Kučan, who has today been on an official visit to Rome, by invitation from the general secretary of the Italian Socialist Party, Mr. Bettino Craxi, has in the statement for the STA said that, more than an hour long meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. Mr. Craxi appeared to have good knowledge of the recent problems and expressed a great interest for the events in Slovenia and Yugoslavia. Mr. Kučan informed him of the circumstance in Slovenia during the Yugoslav army's withdrawal and with the events concerning yesterday's session of the Yugoslav Presidency, in Belgrade. Mr. Craxi expressed his conviction that a possibility exists, by which Italy could enter the process of solving the Yugoslav crisis, with the mediation of the European community and in the domain of bilateral relations. Slovenia is emphasizing the need for abolishing the economic sanctions, or the so called "war risk". Mr. Craxi also expressed a readiness for further communication with Slovenia and normalization of the circumstances on the Italian Eastern border .
