MONDAY, 5 January

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to launch the second round of consultations with heads of deputy groups in parliament for candidates for a new Court of Audits chairman.

LJUBLJANA - Publisher Delo is scheduled to confer an award for person of the year 2003.

TUESDAY, 6 January

SLOVENJ GRADEC - Car-seat maker Prevent is to hold a press conference to outline the 2004 business plans.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS) is to hold a press conference to talk about the organisations' expectations for 2004.

WEDNESDAY, 7 January

VATICAN - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to visit the Vatican and meet with Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo.

POKLJUKA - The women's 7.5 km sprint is to open the Pokljuka stage of the Biathlon World Cup.

NOVO MESTO - Slovenian basketball champions Novo Mesto are to take on Italy's Skipper Bologna in the 8th round of the Euroleague.

THURSDAY, 8 January

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Agriculture Minister Franci But is to take part in a meeting of EU agriculture ministers, who will be joined by their counterparts from acceding countries.

LJUBLJANA - Weekly cabinet session.

POKLJUKA - Biathlon World Cup is to continue with the men's 10 km sprint.

BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro - Slovenia's Olimpija is to play Partizan in the 8th round of Europe's strongest basketball competition, the Euroleague.

FRIDAY, 9 January

BERLIN, Germany - President Janez Drnovsek is to attend the International Forum. Organised by the Bertelsmann Foundation, the forum has been dubbed "Europe Heading Towards a New Age".

LJUBLJANA - Director of the Government Office for Regional Development and Structural Policy, Zdenka Kovac, is to present her department's work in 2003 and plans for 2004.

POKLJUKA - Women's 10 km pursuit at the Biathlon World Cup.

SATURDAY, 10 January

LJUBLJANA - A two-day European Commission conference on the promotion of social dialogue in the enlarged EU is set to begin.

POKLJUKA - Men's 12.5 km pursuit at the Biathlon World Cup.

LJUBLJANA - Reigning European handball champions Krim are to take on Denmark's Ikast Bording in the 2nd round Group B play of the Champions League.

SUNDAY, 11 January

POKLJUKA - Women's and men's mass start races are to wrap up the Biathlon World Cup stage hosted by Pokljuka.
