In the opinion of the President of the Slovenian Presidency, Mr. Milan Kučan, the signing of both documents does not distance Slovenia from Europe

Ljubljana, 2 September - The President of the Presidency of the Republic of Slovenia Milan Kučan stated for STA and TV Slovenia, after the meeting of the Slovenian Presidency, that Slovenia has constantly expressed its preparedness to accept European mechanisms for solving Yugoslav problems, which are also included in the Declaration on Yugoslavia. "We demanded the end of enmities and have constantly been of the opinion that internationalization, the expanding of the role of the monitoring mission to the territory of Croatia, is necessary, this means that the direct intervention of the European Twelve is needed. That is why we supported and also signed the agreement and memorandum on expanding the role of the monitoring mission to Croatia. In my opinion, the signing of this document by all republican leaderships is the only way that the document is also signed by Serbia."
