A Meeting of the Representatives of the Slovene Ethnic Minority in Trieste

Trieste, 13 September - The representatives of the Slovene minority in Italy met today in Trieste to discuss the problem of the protection of the Slovene minority also in the light of the most recent international developments and of the standpoints put forward by various representatives of the Italian Government. The Slovene representatives agreed to prepare a document demanding the protection of the Slovene minority's rights which they intend to place before all major international factors - among them also the CSCE. The representatives of the Slovene minority in Italy will also inform the highest ranking representatives and officials of the Republic of Slovenia of their demands. The representatives at the meeting also expressed solidarity with the inhabitants of Croatia and reiterated their demand for the speedy international recognition of the Republic of Slovenia.
