Ljubljana, 25 March - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 26 March:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The spring EU summit is to wrap up, focussing on economic topics, the Lisbon Strategy in particular. The summit is also attended by Slovenian PM Anton Rop, who is accompanied by FM Dimitrij Rupel and Finance Minister Dusan Mramor. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to give a press conference to present an international conference on the Western Balkans. The event is to be held on 29 March in Washington, and will be organised by the Slovenian Foreign Ministry in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the European Security Initiative. He is also to speak about EU matters; at 6.30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Several pieces of legislation, mostly EU-related, are on the parliament's emergency agenda, including an European arrest warrant bill and a bill on state aids, as MPs resume their March session at 10 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's readiness for EU membership in home affairs and changes to be expected after 1 May are to be outlined by Interior Minister Rado Bohinc and EU Ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere at 11.30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - General Henri Bentegeat, the chief of staff of the French Armed Forces, is to pay an official visit for talks with Slovenian officials, namely his Slovenian counterpart Major General Ladislav Lipic and Defence Minister Anton Grizold, among other officials; statement to the press at 11.45 AM. LJUBLJANA - Together with his aides, Agriculture and Food Minister Franci But is to present his visit to the EU's Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection at 11 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The 7th conference of mayors of capitals from EU acceding and candidate countries is to take place in Ljubljana, focussing on their cooperation after the 1 May EU enlargement. Participants are to be addressed by Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic and Speaker Borut Pahor, among other officials. A press conference is scheduled for 4.15 PM. (STA)

BLED - The Slovenian Young Lawyers Association (SYLA) is to organise the 8th three-day international conference "Bled Forum" to discuss Slovenia's future in Europe from several aspects. A number of top domestic and foreign politicians and experts have been invited to attend; begins at 2 PM. (STA)

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Twelve Slovenian soldiers are to leave the country heading for Sarajevo to begin a six-month peace-keeping mission. This will be the seventh time for a Slovenian Army medical unit to go to Bosnia.

LJUBLJANA - Results of the latest edition of Politbarometer public opinion poll are to be presented at 11 AM. (STA)

IG - An agreement on a Dutch donation to a Slovenian-run demining fund (ITF) is to be signed at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Chair of the parliamentary European affairs commission Alojz Peterle is to meet his Croatian counterpart Neven Mimica at 2.15 PM.

LJUBLJANA - A series of debates on security and defence is to be presented to the press by the Atlantic Council Slovenia; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - NSi leader Andrej Bajuk is to speak about several topical issues at a press conference due at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian pharmaceuticals company Lek is to speak to the press at 10.30 AM to present its new corporate image.

PIRAN - A panel is to discuss the situation in the Slovenian retail sector in 2004 as part of a two-day meeting of retailers; at 10.45 AM.
