Ljubljana, 27 March - Slovenian officials stepped up efforts to help bring about a solution to the Kosovo crisis. Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel paid a visit to Serbia-Montenegro in a bid to gauge the mood in Belgrade and Pristina after last week's clashes between the Albanian and Serbian ethnic communities, which left 28 people dead and many more wounded. A day later, Prime Minister Anton Rop told Javier Solana, the EU's foreign policy chief, that Slovenia - often viewed as a bridge between the EU and the Balkans - was ready to play a role in bringing lasting peace to Kosovo and the whole of the region.
