Ljubljana, 1 April - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 2 April:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to attend a flag-rising ceremony (9.15 AM) at the NATO headquarters in Brussels upon the accession of seven countries to the alliance. Ministers are then to meet for a ceremonial session of the North Atlantic Council, prior to which NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is to hold a press
conference. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - A ceremony marking Slovenia's entry into NATO is to take place at the Defence Ministry at 1 PM, hosted by Defence Minister Anton Grizold and Chief of Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Ladislav Lipic. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Leader of the coalition People's Party (SLS) Janez Podobnik is to respond to statements by coalition partners following two interpellation motions against two ministers at 11 AM. The senior coalition partner LDS said on Wednesday the SLS might well be excluded from the coalition for violating the coalition agreement by not backing the two ministers. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - An Economics Ministry-hosted panel is to discuss ways of upgrading the ability of Slovenian companies to compete on the common EU market; begins at 11 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - At 9 AM, the parliamentary foreign policy committee is to discuss a number of documents regarding a contract between Slovenia and the EIB, an agreement with the US to fight proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, a protocol to the European Convention on the Supression of Terrorism, and the UN Convention against Transnational Organised Crime.

BLED - The 6th meeting of coordinators of the the Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) project of the Council of Europe is to begin with an address by Education Minister Slavko Gaber at 9 AM. The event, to end on Sunday, is to be attended by national coordinators as well as Olof Olafsdottir of the CoE directorate for democratic citizenship and human rights education and Monika Oels of the European Commission.

LJUBLJANA - Vice-president of the Party of European Social-Democrats (PES) Robert Goebbels is to begin a three day visit upon the invitation of Feri Horvat, a ZLSD observer in the European Parliament. A press conference at 2.30 PM. (STA)

PORTOROZ - Knowledge as a conditions for vigorous development is to be discussed at 10 AM as the two-day meeting of the association of managers, Manager, draws to a close.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce is to host a panel, at 9 AM, on wind energy in Slovenia.

KILDARE, Ireland - A two-day informal meeting of EU finance ministers is to begin, to be attended also by Slovenia's Dusan Mramor and central bank governor Mitja Gaspari.

LJUBLJANA - Over 120 pupils are to discuss how they feel about Slovenia's EU accession at a panel hosted by the National Assembly as part of the European Spring Day. The debate is to be chaired by chair of the European affairs commission Alojz Peterle; begins at 9 AM.

KRANJ - A Slovenian expedition to Daulagiri, a 8,167-metre peak in the Himalayas, is to be presented to the press.

VENICE, Italy - The Slovenian gallery "A+A" is to host a meeting of directors of Slovenian and Italian arts centres and museums to encourage cultural exchange between both countries.

LJUBLJANA - The most original Slovenian picture book is to be awarded upon the International Children's Book Day; 6 PM.
