Ljubljana, 2 April - Below is a schedule of events for Saturday, 3 April:

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian trade unions will join the European Action Day as the Association of Free Trade Unions (ZSSS) organises a rally in Ljubljana's Congress Square for 11 AM. The second-largest mass protest in independent Slovenia is expected to attract some 10,000 workers, who will demand higher wages. They will be joined by participants in a two-day conference of the European Federation of Trade Unions in the Food, Agriculture and Tourism members from Central Europe. Another rally will be held at the same time at Preseren Square, organised by Trade Unions Confederation 90, Independence Trade Union and Pergam. (STA)

ST. ANTON, Austria - Defence Minister Anton Grizold is due to meet his Austrian counterpart Guenther Platter for an informal meeting ahead of the informal gathering of EU defence ministers in Brussels next week. The pair is expected to discuss the political and security situation in the Balkans and the EU's takeover of the peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

KILDARE, Ireland - Finance Minister Dusan Mramor will join finance ministers of the EU and acceding countries as they wrap up a two-day informal meeting. They are expected to discuss the EU's financial perspective for the 2007-2013 period and attempt to reach consensus on the European candidate for director general of the International Monetary Fund.

PITTSBURGH, United States - Head of the Office for Slovenians abroad Jadranka Sturm Kocjan, currently on a visit to the United States, will be attending a ceremony upon the 100th anniversary of the Slovenian National Benefit Society, the largest Slovenian emigrants' association in the US. Former Slovenian President Milan Kucan is also due to appear at the anniversary festivities, which will wrap up on Sunday.

LJUBLJANA - The non-parliamentary Party of Ecological Movements (SEG) is due to hold an election congress at 10 AM. The delegates are also expected to debate preparations for Euro and Slovenian parliamentary elections. (STA)

MARIBOR - A group of forums and NGOs will stage an event against xenophobia and intolerance on 6 PM in a silent protest against Sunday's referendum on the erased.
