Ljubljana, 4 April - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 5 April:
LJUBLJANA - Parliament is set to launch a week-long emergency session dedicated to constitutional changes and EU-related bills. Beginning the session at 2:00 PM, lawmakers are first expected to debate and then vote on the amendments to the act on rail safety, as well as the bill on the restructuring of the Slovenian Railways and the bill on access to electronic services. Moreover, changes to the consumer loans act are expected to be discussed on the first day, as is the appointment of the seven interim European MPs who will represent Slovenia in the European Parliament from the date of membership on 1 May until European elections on 13 June. BUCHAREST, Romania - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is scheduled to pay an official visit to Romania. In a busy schedule, Rupel is due to meet his Romanian host and counterpart Mircea Geoana, as well as the President Ion Iliescu, Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, Deputy Prime Minister Ioan Talpes, President of the Senate Nicolae Vacaroiu and Europe Minister Alexandru Farcas.
GORNJA RADGONA - Slovenian and Austrian law enforcement officials are to meet to discuss joint border patrols. A statement to the press is scheduled for 1:00 PM. (STA)
BRUSSELS, Belgium - The defence ministers of the current and future EU states are to gather for a two-day informal meeting. Slovenia's Anton Grizold is scheduled to attend.
DUBLIN, Ireland - Transport Minister Jakob Presecnik is scheduled to begin a two-day visit to Ireland. He is due to meet Irish opposite number Shanon Brennan for talks that will discuss the transport priorities of Ireland's EU presidency.
LJUBLJANA - The Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs is to hold a press conference outlining Slovenia's social security policy once the country joins the European Union. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - A two-day seminar on the effects EU legislation will have on Slovenia's meat processing industry is to get underway at 9:30 AM, hosted by the Technical Assistance Information Exchange Office at the EU Directorate General for Enlargement, the European Livestock and Meat Trading Unions and Slovenia's GIZ Meso izdelko interest group.
LJUBLJANA - Officials of the Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development are to present the third Development Report for Slovenia at midday. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian CIGRE committee, with the help of the International Council on Electric Systems (CIGRE), is to hold a three-day forum on the development of the electricity network in the open market.
IG - A two-day regional meeting of the Stability Pact's Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Initiative is to get underway.
