Schedule of Events for Wednesday, 14 April

Ljubljana, 13 April - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 14 April:

LJUBLJANA - Deputy Speaker of the British House of Commons, Alan Haselhurst is to pay a two-day visit to Slovenia. He is to meet Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor and deputy group leaders. A press statement is scheduled for 2.15 PM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Janez Potocnik, the Slovenian candidate for the European commissioner, is to undergo a hearing in the European Parliament at 8 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Election Commission is to discuss the official results of the 1 April referendum on the technicalities act on the erased and preparations for European elections. The session is scheduled at 1 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian Days of Finance are to open at Cankarjev dom, featuring more than 50 lectures and debates in two days. On Wednesday, Bank of Slovenia governor Mitja Gaspari will speak about inflation and the introduction of the euro, and Finance Minister Dusan Mramor will discuss current financial affairs pertaining to Slovenia's EU accession. On the ocassion, the financial expert, director and company of the year will be proclaimed. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The oil trader Petrol is to present its 2003 business results and this year's plans to the press at 10 AM.(STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Council is to convene for a regular session. On the agenda is also an initiative to send the game and hunting administration act to the Constitutional Court for examination. Although vetoed by the National Council, the act was passed by parliament in January.

LJUBLJANA - The central bank is to present the February balance of payment figures at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Health Insurance Association (ZZZS) is to hold a session at noon to discuss the 2003 business report.

LJUBLJANA - Three trade unions, namely KSS Pergam, KS 90 and KNSS Independence, are to speak to the press at 1 PM about their positions on pay policy agreement and their future industrial action.

LJUBLJANA - A panel debate on Slovenia's economic future is to be held at 4 PM, organised by the Association of Small and Middle-Sized Companies and the Slovenian Democrats (SDS).

LJUBLJANA - The European Men's Gymnastics Championships are to kick off in Ljubljana. Ahead of the opening ceremony, the Slovenian Gymnastics Association is to give a press conference at 11 AM. (STA)
