Schedule of Events for Thursday, 15 April

Ljubljana, 14 April - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 15 April:

LJUBLJANA - The agriculture minister designate, Milan Pogacnik, is to be heard by the parliamentary committee for agriculture, forestry and food at 4 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary home affairs committee is to hear the justice minister designate at 2 PM. Zdenka Cerar is to replace the outgoing justice minister, Ivan Bizjak. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary foreign policy committee is to discuss Turkey's views on the unification of Cyprus, with Turkish Ambassador Balkan Kizildeli attending the session. Several ratification bills are also on the committee's agenda. The session will get underway at 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The executive council of the senior coalition Liberal Democrats (LDS) and the council of the junior coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) are to hold separate sessions to discuss a joint list of candidates for the June European elections. The LDS could also discuss the foreign minister's letter about the unsuitability of Zdenka Cerar for the post of new justice minister. The LDS is to speak to the press at 10 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The council of the opposition Youth Party (SMS) and the non-parliamentary Greens of Slovenia are to discuss, at separate sessions, a joint list of candidates for the European elections. The SMS is to speak to the press at 6.30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek is to deliver his 2003 report on human rights protection in Slovenia to Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor, and speak to the press at 1 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Research agency Gral-Iteo is to present results of an international survey on corruption which was carried out in 14 Central and East European countries; at 11.30 AM. (STA)

PORTOROZ - Developments in the money market and Slovenia's integration into the ERM II are to top a traditional meeting of treasurers. The two-day event is to be addressed by central bank governor Mitja Gaspari at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian Days of Finance are to wrap up with an address by Miha Juhart of the Securities Market Agency on the new securities market legislation. Several other events are to take place, including a panel on the Slovenian property market upon EU entry.

LJUBLJANA - An international conference entitled "Science and Society in the Enlarged EU" is to be hosted by the National Council, the Slovenian Science Foundation and the Ljubljana office of the Austrian science institute; begins at 9 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - A conference about public procurement in the EU is to begin at 9 AM, with Minister of Regional Development Zdenka Kovac and EU Ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere to attend.

MONS, Belgium - Chief-of-Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces Ladislav Lipic is to attend the official military ceremony on the accession of seven new members, including Slovenia, to NATO.

MARIBOR - Slovenia's second largest bank, NKBM, is to hold a press conference at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - A press conference is to be held ahead of the IT show Teleinfos, which is to run from 21 to 24 April.

LJUBLJANA - At its weekly session, the government is to discuss the look of new EU-styled border sign posts.

NOVA GORICA - The role of the Bohinj-Nova Gorica railway line is to be discussed as the railway line from Jesenice via Nova Gorica to Italy's Trieste is to celebrate its 100th anniversary and as Slovenia joins the EU; at 10 AM.

KOPER - The board of the Forum of Adriatic-Ionian Cities is to meet as part of preparations for a Forum's meeting of mayors scheduled for September. The Forum associates 15 municipalities from seven countries; a press conference at 1.30 PM.

VIENNA, Austria - Regular bilateral consultations between Slovenia and Austria are to get underway. The Slovenian side will be headed by Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andrej Logar, while Austrian Foreign Ministry Secretary General Johannes Kryle is to head the Austrian delegation.

LAAFELD, Austria - A third meeting of umbrella organisations of ethnic Slovenians in Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia is expected to adopt a document on the role of a joint coordination board; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Samuel Zbogar is to meet Deputy Speaker of the British House of Commons Alan Haselhurst; and later, Pjer Simunovic, national coordinator for NATO at the Croatian Foreign Ministry.

MARIBOR - A panel is to discuss the role of the Church and religious communities at 7 PM, organised by several Catholic organisations.

LJUBLJANA - Competitions in the 26th European Gymnastics Championships for men are to begin:

- team competition (juniors)
10.30 AM - 1 PM: first group
2.30 PM - 5 PM: second group
6.15 PM - 8.30 PM: third group; announcement of results; award ceremony (STA)

GDANSK, Poland - Slovenia's ice-hockey team is to take on Romania at 1 PM in the third round of World Division A Championships, group B. (STA)
