Ljubljana, 22 April - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 23 April:

BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is due to pay an official visit to Slovenia. He is to be received by PM Anton Rop, President Janez Drnovsek, Defence Minister Anton Grizold and FM Dimitrij Rupel. A statement for the press is scheduled for 11:25 AM (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Amendments to the taxation procedure act, and amendments to energy act are to be adopted in urgent procedure as the parliament continues its extraordinary session. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Council is to convene at noon to decide whether to veto the new income tax act, which the parliament adopted on Tuesday. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission on European affairs is to meet at 8:30 AM to examine the implementation of the recently adopted act on cooperation between government and parliament on EU issues.

LJUBLJANA - Interior Minister Rado Bohinc is to talk to the press at 11:30 AM to present novelties at Slovenia's borders that are to be introduced after the 1 May EU entry. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Representatives of the United List of Social Democrats (ZLSD), including the party's president Borut Pahor, are to take part in the 6th congress of the Party of European Socialists, a deputy faction in the European Parliament.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Education, Science and Sport Slavko Gaber is to address the press at 10:30 AM to present public tenders for the co-funding of education projects from European structural funds for the next three years.

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to receive credentials of the newly appointed ambassador of Croatia Mario Nobilo; at 12:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - President of the Slovenian Democrats Janez Jansa is stage a press conference at noon to talk about current issues.

LJUBLJANA - Andrej Bajuk, president of New Slovenia (NSi) is to talk about current issues at a press conference scheduled for 1 PM.

MARIBOR - The non-parliamentary party Slovenia Is Ours is to stage a convention to name a list for elections to the European Parliament; at 6 PM.

SEZANA - The Sezana municipality is to organise an event entitled "Open Borders 1981-2004" at 5 PM as part of celebrations of Slovenia's EU membership.

MARIBOR - The 7th International Choral Competition is to begin at 7 PM with a pre-competition programme of folk songs performed by the participating choirs. The event runs until Sunday.
