Luxembourg foreign minister Poos receives France Dreu

Ljubljana, 8 October - On the occasion of the expiry of the Brioni moratorium Luxembourg foreign minister Jacques Poos received Slovenian government representtive France Dreu. Minister Poos said that he understands the problems, wishes and aspirations of the Slovenian people. He emphasized that Slovenia was the only republic to have stirctly observed the Brioni declaration, on account of which the European community considers it as a reliable and trustworthy partner which respects international obligations. Poos said he was convinced that none of the European Community member-states would unilaterally recognize Slovenia, without the common agreement, and that applies to Austria as well. He therefore suggested to Slovenia to refrain from raising a big dust about its further independence moves. Slovenia should protect its economy and continue along its path cautiosly and slowely until the conclusion of the Hague conference, Poos said. Slovenia's active participation in the follow-up of the Hague conference is very important and would automatically lead to its recognition.
