The Monetary Unit of the Republic of Slovenia is the Tolar
Ljubljana, 8 October - The social-political chamber, the chamber of communities and the chamber of associated labour of the Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia have, at their meeting this night, accepted the proposal of the new monetary unit of the Republic of Slovenia and the proposal of the law on the use of this monetary unit in the Republic of Slovenia. Both laws become valid with their publication in the Official Gazette, dated October 8, 1991. All three chambers have also accepted a law on exchanging the deposited hard currency savings of its citizens at the National Bank of Yugoslavia into a debt of the Republic of Slovenia and the issuing of bonds on the basis of the hard currency deposits of citizens in the banks of the Republic of Slovenia.
