Ljubljana, 27 April - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 28 April:

JELSANE - Slovenian and Croatian presidents, Janez Drnovsek and Stipe Mesic, are to officially open the upgraded international border crossing Jelsane, one of the main entry points into Slovenia, at 12.30 PM. The ceremony is to be attended by head of the European Commission delegation to Slovenia Erwan Fouere. Drnovsek and Mesic are to give a joint statement to the press at 12.55 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic is to host a delegation of officials from the Brussels region, led by Guy Vanhegel, Brussels minister in charge of finance, budget, regional administration and foreign affairs, and Didiere Gosuine, minister in charge of the environment, nature protection, and foreign trade. The officials are to sign a cooperation agreement between the Slovenian and the Belgian capitals at 10.30 AM, followed by a press conference. (STA)

BLED - The international coordination committee of the Via Alpine, a development project of eight Alpine countries, is to take place. Minister of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy Janez Kopac and Ernsta Strasser, Austrian interior minister and chair of the Via Alpine, are to attend the event. A press conference is to be held at 1 PM.

BRNIK - Former Europe minister and Slovenia's commissioner-designate Janez Potocnik is to open new premises for inspection services at the new EU external border at the Ljubljana Airport international border crossing. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5 PM.

PARIS, France - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is to conclude his two-day working visit by meeting his French counterpart Gilles De Robien.

PARIS, France - Defence Minister Anton Grizold is scheduled to attend a reception for defence and foreign ministers of the seven NATO newcomers, hosted by French Defence Minister Michele Alliot Marie.

BERLIN, Germany - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to take part in an OSCE conference on antisemitism. He is to speak in the framework of a plenary session on legal and institutional mechanisms and government action.

WARSAW, Poland - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to attend the opening of the European Economic Forum.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The candidates for the European elections from the joint list put forward by the Youth Party and the Slovenian Greens - Alenka Paulin, Melita Cimerman, Vanja Rezonja, and Igor Jakovac - are to attend the presentation of the European Greens' candidates for the elections in the European Parliament.

LJUBLJANA - The collegiate body of the parliament speaker is to hold a session at 10 AM to discuss whether to call an emergency parliamenty session to vote on the vetoed income tax bill, and another emergeny session on corruption, which has been requested by the opposition lawmakers.

NOVA GORICA - The association of the erased residents of Slovenia is to hold a press conference at 1 PM to present their programme and the movement for a Europe of rights and mobility.

BRNIK - A ceremony at 3.30 PM is to mark the landing of the first plane of the low-fare airliner EasyJet, as the company launches its business in Slovenia. Their plane is scheduled to land at 3.55 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Bank Association is to hold a press conference at 10 AM to present a special issue of its journal. Dedicated to EU membership, the edition has been entitled "Slovenia Entering the EU: Condition, Problems and Challenges".

LJUBLJANA - Logistics company Intereuropa is to present a new package of services for the Balkans at 10 AM.

GENEVA, Switzerland - Slovenia are to take on Switzerland in a football friendly at 8.15 PM in preparations for the World Cup qualifying round.
