Ljubljana, 2 May - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 3 May:
STRASBOURG, France - A group of 162 MEPs from the new EU members - among them seven from Slovenia - are to join the incumbent 626 MEPs on Monday as the European Parliament holds its first plenary session in the enlarged EU, and at the same time the last in its term. Ahead of the session, the gathered MEPs are scheduled to take part in a ceremony opening the event, with speakers of the national parliaments in the 10 new member states formally presenting their national flags. Representing Slovenia at the ceremony will be Speaker of Parliament Borut Pahor. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - Heads of deputy groups are scheduled to meet at noon ahead of Thursday's extraordinary session of parliament. The session has been called at the request of opposition lawmakers.
LJUBLJANA - Festivities to mark Europe Week are set to begin around Slovenia. The events, which are sponsored by the European Commission delegation Slovenia, will culminate on Sunday, when Europe Day is celebrated.
LJUBLJANA - Zavod sv. Stanislava, a Catholic school in Ljubljana, will honour Slovenia's EU membership with an event entitled "Home Again". EU Ambassador Erwan Fouere is expected to be on hand for the event.
PORTOROZ - A two-day international conference on the 5th Pan-European Corridor, organised by the Transport Ministry, is set to get underway at 9:30 AM. Transport ministry officials from Cyprus, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia are due to take part. (STA)
BRNIK - Hungarian flag carrier Malev is set to begin daily flights between Ljubljana and Budapest.
LJUBLJANA - The Automobile Association of Slovenia (AMZS) is to present its views on the draft version of the amended road safety act.
