Conservation of Natura 2000 Sites Will Cost SIT 2bn a Year

Ljubljana, 4 May - Natura 2000 sites account for over 35.5 percent of Slovenia's territory, Environment Minister Janez Kopac told the press on Tuesday. After selecting these sites, the state must now provide a conservation status for them, which is expected to cost about SIT 2bn (EUR 8.4m) annually. This, said the minister, would be a hard nut for the government.
