The president of the Council for dialogue of the Slovenian bishops' conference writes to Hans van den Broek

Ljubljana, 12 October - Prof. dr. Janez Juhant, president of the Council for dialogue of the Slovenian bishops conference wrote a letter to Hans van den Broek in connection with the situation in Croatia. He wrote that he appreciated Broek's efforts for stopping the hostilities in Croatia, but that he finds it strange that the military and the Serbian aggressors are treated in the same way as Croatian defenders. The European community keeps pressuring the Croatians into fairplay, in order to establish European standards, while the Serbian-lead army takes advantage of the situation and continues with its destructive activity. The letter also says: "Concerning the means and methods of this war, even your observers have discovered that it is a fight of wolves against sheep. Furthermore, these "wolves" are equipped with the newest means of destruction and do not even keep to the "wolves' ethics of warfare". Do the efforts of the European and the world politics so far not mean keeping the wolf and the sheep in a cage, waiting for the end of the fight?". At the end of the letter it is again stated that the Croatians are being punished again and again, and the question is put: "Must we equate the blockade of Croatian ports, which prevents the civil population from obtaining the most urgent means of survival, with the blockade of military barracks?".
