Over 1,000 Gather to Mark Europe Day
Lesce, 9 May - Over 1,000 people gathered in the northwest of Slovenia to celebrate Europe Day, a holiday which Slovenia observes as an EU member for the first time. On this day the Europeans remember the idea of a united Europe as outlined 54 years ago by the then French FM Robert Schuman, stressed the keynote speaker Milan Kucan as he addressed the crowd.
